It’s finally spring! Yay! We have missed you – although technically people in South Africa will argue that Durban doesn’t really have a winter.  None, the less, warmer weather is on it’s way and I am thrilled – more beach days for sure filled with surfing, body boarding, snorkelling and relaxing!  Along with the warmer weather, there are tasty new veg and fruit available in the supermarkets for us to enjoy.  Obviously, shopping seasonally we are getting fresher products that are more nutritious (haven’t travelled ages to get to us) AND are more affordable – which is even more important every time the petrol price goes up.  So here they are – veg and fruit that are in season this month:

Vegetables: Asparagus, radishes, cabbage, cucumber, turnip, leeks, onions, broccoli, cauliflower, parsnips, beetroot, carrots, rhubarb (YUM) and spring onion.

Starchy Veg: Pumpkin and potatoes

Fruits: Oranges, lemons, ruby grapefruit, bananas, pineapples, kiwi and avocado.
